Our Invitations
I was beyond excited to see that Sarah of Things are better with a Parrott wrote this post today about our amazing wedding invitations. I meant to share them with you earlier, but my photos don't do them nearly as much justice as hers do. *sigh*
They go perfectly with our favor labels.
Did I also mention the sweet guest book she did for us? More on that later. With photos. I promise.

18 days and a recap, yo
I've been adding "yo's" to the end of everything I say this past week. I blame it entirely on this.
Potato chip diet, I abhor you. Thankfully ass cellulite doesn't fall into my category of "wedding related things I have the energy to care about right now".
Our play list is finally finished. I had a few glasses of wine the other night and took over where Nick left off. No David Sedaris. Plenty of David Bowie and David Byrne.
The future ceremony location
Hair flower by Twigs & Honey (and a bolero that I can't get enough of!)
Sneak peek at the reception mini
The perfect pair of J Crew heels
A funky 70's suit
A plethora of DIY peonies
Birds from the runny bunny
Napkins, napkins, napkins
The excitement is killing me (exclamation, exclamation, exclamation)

Mr. Owl Joins The Family
When I got home from work last night I was pleased to find my new little owl from Craftpaca waiting for me in our mailbox. Thanks again Myra for introducing me to this wonderful Etsy shop!
I was worried that my cats would like the owl a little too much, but after a brief initiation they came to an understanding:
Mia "The Meeze" checks out Mr. Owl in his new home: a chair in our living room.
Hmm... no catnip?
She quickly gets bored and moves on to attack my bare toes.
I think Mr. Owl will be safe... for now.

Bird ♥
There's something about birds that makes me giddy with joy. I can't put my finger on it. I love to look at them, touch them, and collect them. Now, I don't mean birds like the ones my mom and dad have at home. Those birds, while lovely to stare at from a safe distance, wake you up in the mornings with the perfected sound of a ringing cell phone or the yip of a poodle. They would also gladly remove a wandering finger if given the opportunity. No, I mean the kind of birds that are completely harmless and you don't ever have to clean up after... ceramic birds.
It all started when I stumbled upon my now favorite owl ring at Anthropologie the other summer. It has rarely left my finger since the day I brought it home.
I was hooked.
Conveniently, I find that birds can also add that extra vintage charm to our wedding reception. The only problem is getting the right kind of bird without the kitsch-factor. After scouring the internet, I found exactly what I was looking for on one of my favorite sites Etsy. A little shop called runny bunny makes these beautiful ceramic birds that I think will go wonderfully with our wedding decor:
And although this may not be wedding appropriate, I think I can find room for this creative trinket on one of our bookshelfs at home:
I'm sure Nick will understand.

Then to my excitement, during a Christmas present exchange at my grandparents' house Nick managed to wrangle us a vintage cookie jar in the shape of a plump owl.I was hooked.
