I take it back
This is the most romantic Bukowski I could find.

Yes, Yes
I've been racking my brain lately trying to figure out how to incorporate a Bukowski poem into our vows. Unfortunately, the most romantic one I could find is this- and I have a feeling that wouldn't fly too well with the family.
This one will always remain my favorite. That's definitely out.
The hunt ensues.

Purchase #157 after all wedding expenses are paid:
Get that eyesore of a crooked tramp-stamp covered.
Note to any potential High Schoolers reading: It's never a good idea to- in the throes of teenage angst and rebellion- get a basement tattoo by a friend of a friend of a friend's creepy uncle.
That's all.

A hike in Forest Park
I feel blessed to live in a city where I can step out of my cramped downtown apartment, and after a twenty-minute walk, find myself surrounded by all of this.
Nick and I decided we want to be forest dwelling hermits when we grow up.

Polaroid
After some recent photo inspiration, tonight on my way home from work I had an epiphany and instantly called my sister.
"Hey kid, so I've got the best idea ever. I know we're having a photographer and everything, but wouldn't it be so fun if I got an old camera off Ebay and you took some Polaroids for us? Then maybe we could make it into a guest book or have some extra photos just for fun? This is going to be great. Now text me this idea in a little while because I'm probably going to forget all about it in the next few minutes."
Now I already bought the camera on Ebay, but I had no idea how expensive film is. $2-$3 a photo? Even more if you don't want stuff that expired in 2007? Jeesh!
So it may have been a little premature to jump into the idea without considering the budget first, but this is going to be great. (I hope)

Hola Spring
From Cabbages and Roses' new spring line. I'm giving it two more weeks and I'm pulling the colorful sun dresses out from the back of my wardrobe. I don't care if I freeze. Where's the sun already?

Ground Control
Nick is in charge of music, because honestly, I may enjoy a song once every few months (it's only boring talk radio for this girl)- but if he knows what's good for him he'll consider adding this to the playlist:
Or is this too depressing for a wedding? I can never keep these things straight.

Yes, again
The insomnia is crazy. At night when I should be sleeping I'm pacing our apartment, squeezing our kitties, and thinking about marshmallows. Napkins. Cellulite. My overuse of "...". How Nick and I went to see Coraline 3D for Valentine's Day. There I was, 3D glasses over my eyeglasses, bitter that we are surrounded by kids (how dare they), and wondering why every time we go to the theater we always get stuck behind the person with big hair/hat/head doused in an ungodly amount of cheap cologne. You know that person.
Sigh.

Not that I'm saying it's cool to stick needles in little animals or anything...
But check out these pincushions by Lucy's Locket on Etsy.Made from recycled sweaters and cute enough to cuddle. Maybe when I finally learn how to thread my new sewing machine I'll buy myself one as a treat. That squirrel is beckoning me with its beady little eyes.

Moth
Check out these gorgeous ensembles from Portland designer Gretchen Jones. I'm loving all of the captivating photos as well. Maybe I can fit a few pieces into my post-wedding budget (along with the ant spoons and fox fur hand warmers)?

For Sale: baby shoes, never worn
I am loving this article over or NPR about the Six-Word Memoirs On Love & Heartbreak (and in case you're wondering, the one above is from Hemingway). Just in time for V Day. Some of my favorites are:
"If I get Chlamydia, blame MySpace."
- Hanorah Slocum
and,
"Silently suffered his facial hair experiments."
- Elizabeth Minkel
Hey Nick, if you're reading this:
"Clean the litter box, or else..."

kitty & napkins
I got a package in the mail from my grandma last night. The other week I sent her yards of fantastic Etsy bought fabric. She sent me back 90 cloth napkins. Ninety. Yessss.
Right now I'm in cotton heaven.
Now, what does this picture have to do with napkins?
Absolutely nothing.
(but, they're both fun to look at)

I'm sick of favors already!
So we finally settled on something. I'm serious this time. Vintage shakers were too messy. Bonsais too time consuming. Taffy too boring. Macaroons too finicky. No, these favors are genius. They smell like a garden in the spring, taste like a mouthful of heaven, have the consistency of a sky full of gooey clouds, and best of all, the lovelies at Whimsy & Spice are making them for us (because let's be honest here, the closest I belong to a kitchen is my lazy butt watching food network from the couch).Selfishly enough, I'm secretly hoping some of our guests leave theirs behind so I can gather them up and stuff myself with sweet rosy goodness on my honeymoon. Man, I'm sick.

SOS
The plague has recently hit our apartment. In its wake I feel compelled to lay off the wedding planning mumbo-jumbo for a bit (it's no fun bugging Nick about garlands when he's so high on pain meds he thinks 'The Bachelor' is funny). Also, I've been a very bad girl. In one of his drug induced naps, I used Nick's credit card to make some wedding related purchases. Normally he wouldn't care. He's been making a lot of wedding purchases lately. But this time I forgot to tell him, and when he went online and saw that a purchase was made at Hot Topic on his card he freaked- claiming his identity must have been stolen (I know... Hot Topic, right? It's a long story, but it involves a pair of hot pink low-top Converse. That's all. I swear).
Anthropologie, Amanda must have borrowed the card. Etsy, yep, Amanda. Amazon, Amanda... Hot Topic? Some little emo kid jacked my sh*t!
I will leave you with this:It's the start of my wedding stamp collection. I don't do hearts, or wedding cakes, or the word "Love" elegantly printed in white lace. No way. But, rocks. Rocks I definitely dig.

Random
I was recently *tagged* by one of my newest blog crushes, Veiled Vows, and feel much obliged to cough up 10 random facts about my creepy self. Here goes!
1. I am really missing my Tara McPherson vinyl collection right now. I sold it a while ago in a stubborn daze and am wishing I could have every last piece of overpriced... toy back on my bookshelf. What I want most is Hellboy and Mr. Bubble Yucky back. Does this make me completely emo?
2. Our apartment doesn't actually have any "real" doors. Our front door is painted glass and all the other doors are french blind thingies. In fact, I can hear Nick playing his gameboy on the can right now... It's pretty awkward to have company over sometimes.
3. Yes, it's for adults. I think...
4. Nick and I watch COPS. A lot.
5. I love the smell of sawdust, vinyl, wet concrete, and leather. A lot.
6. I've killed almost every plant I own.
7. The other day our landlord was over getting the Christmas lights off our fire escape (I know Mon, right?). In the process he knocked over one of my bonsais (that he kept calling an "oragami"). He killed that one. Not me.
8. I can still hear Nick playing his gameboy...
9. He's going to be really mad I blogged about that.
10. I love cleaning, but HATE doing the dishes. Hate, hate, hate it. Sometimes I throw things away because I don't want to wash them. In all fairness, most of our dishes are cheap IKEA crap anyway. (This sounds horribly non-eco-friendly of me, I know. But I make up for it in other ways. I swear! A girl can't be perfect all the time...)
And now I tag Brittney, cuz I loooove her.

Garland Party
+
+
= Garland making party.
A note to my Portland friends:
"When: Sunday, March 1st @ 1pm
Where: My apartment
Why: To help make garlands for my upcoming wedding!
Basically the deal is, you come over and provide free labor, and in return I stuff you full of yummy cocktails and mediocre snacks. Boys are welcome too (as long as they aren't above attaching doilies to string and talking about Nathan Fillion's hot buns).
You know you want to..."
My apartment is cramped and my obese cats love to eat paper, but I'm definitely up for the challenge (after a few cocktails that is). Don't worry, if anyone loses any digits I will be sure to take plenty of photographic evidence for your viewing pleasure.

low-key hair
This is definitely the look for me. A low, side-swept ponytail with just a touch of wave. Perfect for the beach, right?
So easy I might even be able to pull it off by myself.
